object:
Rover Chair commissioned by Hugh Mappin
design concepts:The commission for this
chair (made from the seat of a Rover) grew out of a discussion with
the client about the work of Ron Arad. The leaf springs and Walnut
frame form a dialectic between support and supported, while the
details in the chair (wedged tenons, etc.), attempt to reflect the
grace and refinement that was present in the late 60's British sedan.
materials: Walnut, steel spring from 1974 Ford
Econoline, Seat from 1968 Rover TC 2000
