project:
Kitchen renovation, Limehouse, Ontario.
design objectives: The character of the
house and the needs of a busy and growing family dictated much of
the design direction for this warm and open kitchen. The client
wanted a kitchen that was a highly efficient workspace yet was comfortable
for frequent entertaining and their casual lifestyle. Much of the
house is constructed using reclaimed or salvaged pine timbers, which
create the feel of an historic farmhouse while the style of the
kitchen helps it harmonized with the adjoining dining room and the
home as a whole. The clients chose to make their kitchen more accessible
to there three young daughters with touches such as wicker fruit
bins, a 32" pastry stone/prep area, under counter microwave
and cabinets that were designed to contain the kids dishes and utensils.
materials: Post catalyzed satin lacquered
mdf and maple, oiled cherry, honed impala granite
