| space:
City apartment, Toronto, Ontario design objectives: Create a clean and
uncluttered space to maximize a feeling of openness and continuity
of form, in a small but light filled apartment. While the emphasis
of the work was on a rigorous contemporary style, one of the prime
objectives was to refer to the space's historic character. The challenge
of the sloping ceilings was used to advantage by introducing a low
and horizontal flow. Organizational features have been optimized
by layering and clustering to make the most effective use of this
compact space. materials: Walnut cabinetry, stainless
and hot rolled steel details, limestone, porcelain tile, maple floors.
